Matthew 25:35-37

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

Here, Jesus links feeding the hungry to ministering to himself, I WAS HUNGRY, and you gave me food, I WAS THIRSTY, and you gave me drink. Caring for vulnerable, hungry people is not only following Jesus’ lead, it’s akin to caring for Jesus.

Do something: Save someone’s life

I didn’t count, but I read that there are over 2,000 references to the poor in the Bible. That speaks volumes—literally. How close it must be to God’s heart if the Creator of the Universe encourages and instructs us so many times to care for the poor, the orphan, the widow and the afflicted?

Once I dove into making this list of verses about helping the poor, it was hard to stop at 20! I was struck anew today by the strong action verbs in these verses. Whether it’s God or us taking up the cause of the downtrodden, look how many times we see words like “rescue,” “defend,” and “speak up.” There are so many powerfully simple verses that beg a response from us.

God doesn’t just say “remember the poor,” or “pray for the poor,” though both of those things are good and important. He calls us, His hands and feet in a hurting world, to actually DO SOMETHING. And, not that we should ever give to get, but God promises to reward us when we do—how kind of our Father. So, let’s take these verses to heart and act on behalf of the poor and the needy!

Cancer Disease

Hello, I’m NAMUGOSA HARIAT from busimbi railway. I was born in Mityana, Uganda. I am 8 years old.

My mother told me that, when i was just 1 year old, I started showing cancer symptoms like the wound in my neck, which you can see in the photo. This scared my parents and friends. From that time up until now, I have been suffering from this disease.

I thank the Lord who has been with me since I was born, and I thank my parents too, because they have been working hard so that I can get some treatment and am still breathing. I thank our Community Based Organization (Hope for mityana street children and orphans). This organization has really tried its level best to support me and my parents. Unfortunately, they have over 200 children to take care of.

My parents and the organization have been spending more than $320.00 per week so that I can get treatment and other basic needs. But at this time, they have failed to get the money needed, because my parents are jobless and some of members in organization earn little or no money per month.

My dearest brothers and sisters, on my knees I request, help please so that I can go on getting treatment and other basic needs. Wish someone come out to sponsor me. I’m like other children— please don’t isolate me. I can receive help through the organization I mentioned above. Or you can contact the director on Whats-app: +256708030026 or Email: mityanaorphans@gmail.com.

May God bless and reward those who will come out to help.

Fundraising Success!

Christmas decorations!

Our November, 2020 Airfunding fundraiser was a success! Thanks to the generosity of the many who contributed, we were able to afford rent, food, and even organize a small Christmas celebration in December. Thanks to the Covid-19 outbreak, we have been unable to work to support ourselves, as we used to. We are very grateful for the donations that carried us through the end of 2020! Cheers to a beautiful, new year… and to hope!

Our fundraising is ongoing. Please consider DONATE to help us get a healthy start on 2021!

Empathy

Research in human development clearly shows that the seeds of empathy, caring, and compassion are present from early in life, but that to become caring, ethical people, children need adults to help them at every stage of childhood to nurture these seeds into full development.

Hospital bills are a significant expense!

We have been in the hospital with one of the children, who is suffering from heart disease. Please pray for her quick recovery!

Some of our children are seriously ill. Hospital bills and other medical care make up a significant part of our budget. Please donate to help pay the hospital bills for our children in need.

Go Girls!

Together we can change the lives of girls in rural areas of Uganda, who face embarrassment during their menstruation when they must use cloth instead of sanitary pads. Join us in giving a sense of pride back to our girls. Your prayers, shares, likes and financial support will help to heal the hurting hearts of over 2000 girls.

Many thanks for the recent donations that helped us buy these sanitary pads! Our girls are grateful.

We desperately need clean water!

The children fill containers from a local water source. Six out of ten people living in Mityana, Uganda will contract diseases like malaria, typhoid and cholera as a direct result of poor sanitation and unclean water.

Our village lacks enough good wells to provide clean water for the people who live here. The contaminated water in Mityana results in sickness and suffering. Please support us in our struggle to provide to clean water for our children.
